Summertime Abundance - a couple of milestones

Our camera is back from repairs, and not a moment too soon! On a quick transit trip through Chobe National Park yesterday, I was ever so happy to have it along.

Here are some gorgeous Baobab blossoms. Baobabs around here tend to leaf and flower at individual and unrelated times, and these are the first ones I've seen this season. The flowers are pretty large, but I am not sure if this gives an idea of the scale!
Some warthog piglets have finally been captured on camera...These are not the town warthogs, but the Park dwellers.  Unfortunately during a very complicated and agile retrieval of the camera from its bag behind me on the car seat, I  inadvertently changed some dial settings, resulting in some rather different colour effects!

Here you see one of the babies emulating  its mother, kneeling down in the sand to eat...
Perfect little miniature warthogs...
These two were slightly interested in the strange object leaning out of a car window near to them!
I promise this is the last one. This gives a good idea of the size of the piglets compared to their mother!
This stunning Kudu ran across the road in front of us, and disappeared into the trees. The beautiful greenery is such a relief after the dullness of the dry season...
Here follows an empty photo slot, where I would have put a photo of the amazing scarlet pincushion lilies that flower in the wild at this time of year. Unfortunately, the milestone photo was taken on my phone during camera deprivation time, and needless to say the phone has managed to vaporise all the photos again, before I got round to downloading them!

I am now off to attend the graduation ceremony of my favourite Daycare Centre in town, and will do an update on the kids later, for those who have been following their progress over the years!

Never enough warthogs, never! And oh, what beautiful baobab blossoms. I did not even KNOW they had them. And the green colours are so different from the brown and dry ones before. Beautiful pictures! Thank you, Karen!

Yay! You're back. I always love when I see a post from you. When I was in Kenya last summer I got such a kick out of the warthogs. So happy you got your camera back. The shots did not disappoint. So funny to think of you having summer at a time when we are gearing up for our first snowfall.

You have a world of wonders at your fingertips. We come here to be surprised, to learn, to simply appreciate our world's diversity. Thank you for sharing it with your pictures and stories.

That looks like a beautiful blossom. The green is gone in our part of the world - as winter looms in the near future. Freezing rain this morning - very slippery outside - I love reading (and seeing) how thigs are in other places. ATB!

The Kudu appears to be the size of a Sambar that we have back here. What had gone wrong with the camera?

I didn't know the baobab blossomed either, they look huge! i hope i can see one in flower too someday. and the wee piggies are the cutest, i wouldn't be able to drive away, couldn't you just watch them all day?

Good news that you've got your camera back, Karen - and I love the results. Like Angela, I never know baobabs blossomed - let alone so beautifully.
Yes, please, to news of the Day Care Centre graduation. In the meantime, hope it goes brilliantly for all involved.
Bon weekend!

I really like the photo that wasn't there!
It is lovely to know that the school over here and the daycare centre are still in touch. I actually went round the school a few weeks ago for the first time. It was the happiest and warmest school I've ever been in.
The headteacher is just amazing at her job and the love goes all the way round the school.

The Warthog babies are such fun and loved seeing the Baobab blossoms, which I've not seen before. Happy the camera is back.

Ditto what Rob said - looking forward to more pics.

I never think of baobabs as having flowers
